Tampa Bay Export Alliance Announced Trade Mission to Canada

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 17, 2015

The Tampa Bay Export Alliance, a cooperative effort of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and Pinellas County Economic Development, today announced that it will lead a trade mission to Toronto, Canada to promote export opportunities for local businesses. Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners Chair Sandy Murman, Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners Vice Chairman Charlie Justice, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman will also join the Tampa Bay delegation. The Canada trade mission participants will depart from Tampa International Airport on October 19 and return October 22.

Canada is one of the most important strategic markets for Tampa Bay, said Rick Homans, President and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation. It is the number one export destination for our regions goods and services and our third largest source of foreign direct investment. The opportunities for local companies to expand their North American footprint and find a receptive market for their goods and services in Canada have never been better.

The mission to Canada is the latest in a series of significant trips Tampa Bay government and business leaders have taken to foreign markets to strengthen the regions commercial opportunities abroad. In December 2014, the Tampa Bay Export Alliance led a successful trade mission to Santiago, Chile that resulted in more than $ 9 million in expected new business for participating companies. Other recent trips included trade missions to Panama, Brazil, and Colombia.

The Canadian market presents an excellent opportunity for local companies. Toronto has one of the most diverse economies in North America. Its a strong financial services hub and a center for manufacturing; life sciences; technology; and film, TV and music production, said Mike Meidel, Director of Pinellas County Economic Development. Companies should contact us as soon as possible, as the available Gold Key Appointments will be filled very quickly.

Two package options have been created for the Canada trade mission participants. The Trade/Gold Key Package, in collaboration with the U.S. Commercial Service, offers representatives from qualified companies expert counseling on their market entry/expansion strategy and the opportunity to connect with Canadian trade partners during personalized, one-on-one matchmaking sessions. Participation in the Gold Key program will be limited to 15 businesses and determined on a first-come, first-served basis, once the companies are assessed and approved based on the suitability of their product or service for the market. The mission is supported in part by a grant from Enterprise Florida and companies may qualify for individual grants as well.

A Delegate Package, which does not include the matchmaking appointments, will provide business leaders with the opportunity to attend all of the mission activities, including seminars, site visits, networking events and a briefing by U.S. Embassy officials. An unlimited number of spots for the Delegate Package are available.

Top export sectors to Canada from Tampa Bay include power generation, automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, defense products and services, safety and security equipment, renewable energy, information and communications technology, pollution control, wastewater treatment, mining, travel and tourism, film and digital media, and agricultural services, products and equipment.

Registration for the Canada Trade Mission is now open. For more information, please visit http://www.tampabayexportalliance.com.

For those interested in exploring Canadian export opportunities but wanting more information, the Tampa Bay Export Alliance is hosting two Doing Business in Canada workshops. The workshops will provide an overview of major industry trends and business opportunities in Canada and share how local companies can benefit from expanding into that market and access local assistance and grants.

Featured speakers include Ximena Pauvif-Machado, Trade Commissioner for the Canadian Consulate General in Miami; Anya Yablonska of the U.S. Commercial Services at the U.S. Consulate General in Toronto, and Lorrie Belovich, Director of International Business for the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation.

Workshop 1 will be held on June 30 from 8:00 10:00 a.m. in Clearwater at the National Aviation Academy. Workshop 2 will be held at Port Tampa Bay in Tampa on July 1 from 8:00 10:00 a.m. A limited number of one-on-one meetings with the trade specialist are available by request.

Admission for the workshops is free, but registration is required. To learn more and register, please click here.

2015 Monster Army Recon Tour Dates and Partnerships Announced – Recon Tour Partners with Mongoose Bikes and Expands the PRO/AM Tour

(PRWEB) March 10, 2015

Hookit and Monster Energy are pleased to announce the 2015 Monster Army Recon Tour dates and venues as well as a new partnership with Mongoose Bikes.

Hookit and Monster Energy created the Recon Tour in 2012 as a regional BMX contest series in Southern California. The mission was simple: discover, support and progress the best up-and-coming athletes in their sport. The past two years the tour has grown into a nationwide event that added structure and a vision to progress and truly identify the next unknown talent, while also supporting the professional athletes.

We initially set out to fill a void and create a much needed amateur BMX contest series to encourage and support the up and coming riders and sport of BMX, said Scott Tilton, CEO of Hookit. The talent that has been discovered as a result of Recon Tour has been ridiculous and were honored to be a part of something that is contributing to and protecting the future of BMX.

For 2015, the BMX contest series has expanded once again into a nationwide effort to support both amateur and PRO athletes in a much bigger way. Monster Army has stepped up once again as the Title Sponsor. Monster has also increased the PRO purse while giving the amateurs a chance to also earn paid to podium.

Monster Army is always striving to push the progression of sports and help athletes get to the next level. With the decline of PRO BMX events over the last number of years and no opportunity for the amateurs to make it to the next level, Monster stepped up by offering both the professional and amateur athletes a chance to compete and progress in their sport while competing for a large Prize Purse. With all of the Monster PRO team on board we look forward to further develop the Recon Tour in 2015, Said Christopher Stumbles, Sports Marketing Manager at Monster Energy.

The Tour has expanded into 7 AM events and 4 PRO events with an overall PRO/AM final. Each amateur podium winner in Open class will be invited and travel paid to the Recon Tour PRO/AM finals, where they will compete against the best BMX athletes in the world. Each PRO event will be a series format with $ 15k on the line at each event and $ 20k at the finals. The overall PRO series winner will also take home a significant prize at the PRO/AM Final.

The Recon Tour is an excellent platform that provides young talent their first taste of competition and allows more experienced athletes exposure to top level riding, said Steve Wilcox, Sports Marketing Manager – Mongoose.

We believe in cultivating up-and-coming talent, and one way were able to do this is through offering a wide range of accessible bikes making it easy for both experienced riders and those who are new to BMX to find something that fits their riding style. When we found out there was an opportunity to get involved with the Recon Tour, we couldnt say no.
